Research into Alzheimer’s disease is continuous. The five prescription drugs available may slow the progression of the disease but do not cure it. Vitamin B supplements and the herb, ginkgo don’t protect against the disease. Keeping physically active seems to help keep our brains healthy. Exercise increases blood flow to the brain. Another reason to make it part of your daily routine.
Tinnitis (“ringing in the ears”) can be intermittent or constant. Sometimes eliminating caffeine from the diet will help. Not smoking or drinking alcohol may also help. However, there is no one method of solving the problem entirely. Alternative therapies like vitamins, herbals and acupuncture have not been effective. Currently, masking the sounds with other sounds can bring relief.
November is Osteoporosis Month, a time to raise awareness of this debilitating disease. Osteoporosis occurs when we lose more bone tissue that we make. Then our bones weaken and our risk of bone fractures increases. Making physical activity part of our day can help make more bone tissue. A diet containing adequate calcium and vitamin D is also important.
Folic acid is an important vitamin to take when pregnant. Now it’s recommended that it is beneficial to take folic acid even a year in advance of becoming pregnant. This can help cut the risk of premature delivery.
