Long Term Care facilities in the area have trusted Dyck's Pharmacists to take care of their patients' prescription needs for well over 30 years. Currently, Dyck's works closely with numerous facilities in Kelowna, from small group homes to large nursing homes. We are pioneers in the field of long term care: in 1974, Dyck's became one of the first pharmacies in Western Canada to introduce the blister packaged medication system to long term care facilities. The pre-packaged system replaced standard pharmacy vials, which were very labour-intensive and time-consuming for nursing staff. The Controlled Dosage System provides nurses with a safe, sanitary and efficient means of administering medications to their patients.
At our St. Paul pharmacy, we have well-trained and skilled pharmacists and technicians who prepare the packaged medication for each facility. Our staff works closely with nursing and medical staff to ensure quality pharmaceutical care for each resident. As part of our regular service to nursing homes, our pharmacists take part in routine medication reviews for each resident to ensure the medications are working correctly and not causing any problems.
