Dyck’s is pleased to be part of the EnviRx program, which offers free pharmaceutical disposal service to the public all year long.
EnviRx is a safe means of reducing the hazards of unused medications in your home throughout the year. Now you can return unnecessary medicines to your pharmacist anytime and help maintain a healthier environment for you and your family.
Check your medicine cabinet for unused medication and bring them to Dyck’s for safe and environmentally responsible disposal.
Following are some guidelines to help you determine whether a medicine should be brought to us for disposal:
- All medicines (prescription and non-prescription, including vitamins) that have exceeded their expiry dates. Medicine can deteriorate over time.
- If there is no expiry date on the product, remove:
- liquids that are older than two years
- tablets or capsules that are older than three years
- any medicine in questionable condition
- excess quantities that cannot be used within one year
- Remove prescription medicine that is not currently being used
- Remove medicine (prescription and non-prescription) whose use is uncertain
- Remove medicine with incomplete or missing labels
If you are uncertain about the safety of a particular medication you have in your home, bring it in and get some advice from one of our pharmacists.
EnviRx is supported by the British Columbia Pharmaceutical Association, The Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Canada, the Canadian Drug Manufacturers and the Non-prescription Drug Manufacturers Association of Canada.
